Iceland is one of the best places in the world for Whale Watching. On this unforgettable tour take a cruise on Faxaflói Bay and see whales, dolphins, and porpoises in a breathtaking natural environment.
Stand on the deck of your boat and look for creatures of the deep to break the surface, whether it’s the frolicsome White-Beaked Dolphin or the majestic Humpback Whale.
In the afternoon, you will be taken on a 300km round trip which showcases the power and beauty of Iceland’s natural environment. You will visit an active Geysir, experience the ferocity of the Gulfoss waterfall and visit Þingvellir National Park which is steeped in both history and beauty.

You will be picked up by bus from your hotel in Reykjavik and board the Whale Watching boat at Reykjavik harbor, bound for Faxaflói Bay. An English speaking guide will help passengers spot the whales on this tour. The Faxaflói Bay is the home of magnificent marine life that inhabit the blue-green waters such as the Minke Whale, the Humpback, Harbor Porpoise and the White-Beaked Dolphin.
Scan the horizon for massive and incomparable whales, which epitomize poetry in motion when they arch themselves up from the water to breach. Hopefully you’ll see dolphins and porpoises dallying playfully by the side of the boat.
Keep one eye trained on the wide waters, and another on the sky, as the Puffin, Arctic Tern, Gannet, and many varieties of Gull dance among the clouds. (Puffins and Arctic Tern are only seen from mid-May until mid-August)
After pickup from Reykjavik Harbor, set off by bus for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Þingvellir National Park. It was here that the country’s first parliament Alþingi was founded in 930 AD, making it the oldest known Parliament in the world. It is also a unique tectonic and volcanic environment where continental drift has engraved the landscape with cracks, faults, and fissures.
Make a stop at the Gullfoss waterfall, where the wide Hvita River plunges furiously over a natural staircase of stones. When one first approaches the falls, the crevice is obscured from view, giving the appearance of a raging river that simply vanishes into the earth.
Drive to the world-renowned geothermal area around Geysir hot spring, where a column of water thrusts upward to a height of 180 feet. Only a few feet away is the Strokkur Geyser which hurls boiling water towards the sky every 5-10 minutes.
On the way back to Reykjavik, we will pass by Hveragerði greenhouse village.
You will be returned to your hotel in the capital at tour’s end.

Yvonne Farthing, United Kingdom, 26/Mar/2017Golden circle afternoon tour was really good, sites visited were amazing. Definitely recommend the afternoon over the full day tour. However, we had better guides on previous grayling tours than this one. Whale watching was good and we'll organised, thermals provided were a life saver. We did briefly see a Whale from a distance however overall the trip wasn't for us due to sea sickness we didn't realise would be an issue.
