Tour iconic Icelandic attractions including the stunning Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where huge icebergs float in ice cold water and seals swim around them! Visit five powerful waterfalls – Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Gljufrabui, Kvernufoss and Irafoss. Wander on the black sand beach of Reynisfjara with its amazing surrounding area and walk on the Diamond Beach, an amazing black beach scattered with icebergs, next to Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Visit the natural ice cave in Vatnajökull, Iceland’s largest glacier. The ice in the cave is spectacularly blue and is a very popular attraction.
Day 1: South coast, the five waterfalls and black beach Reynisfjara
Depart from Reykjavík and pass through small towns whilst enjoying the beauty of the Icelandic countryside. Your first stop will be at the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which is located beneath the famous Eyjafjallajokull volcano which erupted back in 2010. Next up is the stunning Skogafoss waterfall with an unbelievable drop of 60 m (200ft)!
Then it is on to Reynisfjara, a black sand beach nestling under Mt. Reynisfjall – seasonal home to numerous puffins that dive from its cliffs out to sea. At the end of the day, your accommodation awaits in Seljaland, a lovely country guesthouse located in a beautiful spot close to Seljalandsfoss. On the way there and during the night, we will look out for the Northern Lights if conditions are favourable to see them.
Day 2: Glacier lagoon and the incredible Blue Ice cave
Kickstart the day with a visit to a natural stunning Blue Ice cave! Head to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon filled with huge chunks of ice that have cracked off Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and float slowly out to sea. From the glacier lagoon, explore the best of Icelandic highlands in a special Super Jeep to the ice cave (which only form in the winter when glacial water freezes to create this unique natural phenomenon!).
After this unforgettable adventure, drive back to the Jokulsarlon and from there, you drive to the Skaftafell national park where the amazing views will take your breath away! Head back to Reykjavik while keeping an eye out for the Northern lights if conditions are right.
